This upcycled accent lamp is made from the shell of an old electric heater, tricked out to hold an antique-style bulb. Lit up, the interior glows warmly, filtered through a double screen that breaks the light into interesting patterns.
I painted the cast aluminum top and legs a rich matte black, which makes a nice contrast to the original brushed aluminum finish of the center screens and matches the colors of the original handle. I painted the socket to match the aluminum, since it's somewhat visible, and finished it all off with a reproduction filament-type light bulb, a long cord, and a nice switch.
- Semicircular, it stands about 15 inches tall and measures 11 inches across the back by 7 1/2 inches deep.
- Comes with a 30 watt tube-shaped antique reproduction bulb, but less fancy clear tube bulbs will also work.
- Easy-to-operate, attractive on/off switch on cord.
- Cord is over 6 feet long.
Please note: A peculiarity of this object is that changing the bulb means flipping it over, unscrewing 2 screws, and removing the base plate, to which the socket is attached. It's not difficult, but it is different from a conventional lamp.
Like the concept but not the colors? I have another very similar heater that I have yet to convert. I can refinish it to your specifications. Just contact me.

Most of my pieces are made from vintage objects on the outside, with new functional parts inside. This means they will show signs of their age, which is part of their appeal, but the works will last for a long time. Unfortunately, photographs can unintentionally either disguise or exaggerate the wear on a piece. I encourage you to take this into consideration when making the decision to buy. If you find you aren't happy with your choice, you have 14 days in which to return it for a refund of the item price, not including shipping.
If you have an object you think would make a good lamp, I may be able to help. Use the link to request a custom order or drop me a note. Custom orders are subject to a 20% nonrefundable deposit, as noted above.
